The new psychological thriller Echoes has quickly climbed the ranks on Netflix’s Top 10 list since it landed on August 19, dethroning The Sandman at number one.
reverberation is about Michelle Monaghan, troubled twinLenny and Gina McCleary, who swap lives each year for their birthday, the former live on a farm in Virginia and the latter forge a writing career in Los Angeles.
However, their detailed scheme soon collapses when Jenna (like Lenny) disappears, forcing Lenny to return to their quaint hometown in search of answers about exactly what she got.
Despite the series taking first place on the streaming device, and its hardcore ending – which hinted at a whole new bit of chaos for Gina and Leni – season 2 It is unlikely that you will get the green light Netflix. Here’s everything we know about why.
Will there be Echoes season 2 on Netflix?
It’s important to note that Netflix described the Echoes as a “limited series,” which means that the show isn’t likely to last as many seasons as most other seasons on the platform.
However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Echoes can never come back, as shows like HBO’s Big Little Lies have proven that the series’ limited rating can be dumped if there’s enough audience demand.
We’ll be focusing closely on how Echoes performs on the Netflix viewing chart over the coming weeks, as this will be the most critical factor in determining whether or not the show has a future.
** Warning: spoilers follow in the rest of this article **
Who could possibly be in Season 2 of Echoes?
If the Echoes returns for a second season, it’s likely that Michelle Monaghan (Christ) will reprise her roles as both Lenny and Gina McCleary, whose fates were uncertain by the final episode.
Matt Bomer (Magic Mikeand Daniel SungataThe Second Power Book: The Ghost(They could also return as husbands Jack Peck and Charlie Davenport, while we’d love to see more Karen Robinson)Sheet Creek) like the mischievous Mount Echo Louise Floss.
Ali Stroker (Ozark), Rosanny Zayas (The L Word: Generation Q) and Celia Weston (The Thing About Pam) could be cast back as Claudia, Paula, and Georgia respectively, all of whom survive – though shaken – after the events of the finale.
Sadly, we’re not likely to see more of Michael O’Neill’s Victor McCleary or Jonathan Tucker Dylan James, both of whom faced premature deaths in the first series of episodes.
What would happen if the Echoes returned for season 2?
The first season of Echoes has ended publicly, with the McCleary sisters’ fate left a mystery.
Gina went over the waterfall and the people of Mount Echo presume she was dead, although her body was never found, while Lenny feared Australia amid growing interest from the authorities.
The narrative takes a time leap into the near future, when Charlie wrote a book about his experiences with both women and their eventual fate.
A woman who looks oddly like one of the McCleary twins appears reading a book and asks a question about Jenna’s fate, before disappearing into the crowd.
Later that night, Charlie is unfazed by finding one of the sisters in his house, having recognized her at the event earlier in the day, although he admits that he is not quite sure which twin he is talking to.
The woman, either Lenny or Gina, says that she did not bring the book she read earlier, which means that she is either lying with intent to obfuscate or that the two sisters are currently in Los Angeles.
When asked why she’s back, McCleary told Charlie, “There’s a lot of accounts to settle, Charlie. I thought I should start with you.”
The ominous response suggests that this visit may not be friendly – in fact, if I were Charlie, I would be somewhat apprehensive.
If the Echoes returns for a second season, the mystery surrounding that ending will likely be cleared, and we might even see Jenna and Lenny face each other again.
Meanwhile, don’t be surprised if Sheriff Floss is still on its tail as she’s left with a hard drive containing an archive of video diaries incriminating them, which could provide any number of clues as to their whereabouts.
